Make Money Start A Nanny Business

nannyMany parents are hiring night nannies these days. With the constant pressures from both parents needing to work outside the home, parents are left needing extra care for their children. When a couple has a newborn child, they need someone to wake up at night to feed the baby, so they can go to work the next morning. Other parents who have older children hire nannies to stay with their children, while they work the night shift.

Hours for night nannies vary with each parent’s needs. Typically, the arrangement is from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The wages also vary depending on age and experience with dealing with children. For most agencies, they pay anywhere from $12-$25 an hour.

Tip One

If you are interested in becoming a night nanny, then you will need to either have previous experience working with children or apply to work with a daycare to gain experience. Parents are very concerned with the amount of previous experience with their potential night nanny.

Parents also want to know about essential skills. You will need to become CPR and First Aid Certified. You can check out your local Red Cross to obtain this training. Another skill parents might wish to know is if you can cook hot meals for their children. If you do not know how to cook, you can enroll in a cooking course and learn the basics of how to prepare meals.

Tip Two

If you have babysat in the past or have worked for a daycare, then you should ask your previous employers for a letter of reference. Ideally, you should have at least three childcare references.

You will also need to pay for a background check on yourself to supply any potential client. Even though you have spent the money for a background check, a family may still want to run a back ground check on you.

Tip Three

The duties you will be expected to perform will vary from parent to parent. You will need to tend to the child’s basic needs depending on the age of the child. That may be from changing diapers to heating bottles or performing bed time rituals for small children.

If the parents leave for work before supper, you may be expected to prepare a hot meal for the children. Nannies will need to clean the kitchen after the meal.

Nannies organize play activities to keep the children entertained until bedtime. They also discipline the children if they misbehave and nannies know the boundaries of the parent’s punishment beliefs.

If you love children and possess lots of energy then you can be a night nanny. You become more than an employee to the family, you become a cherished member of the family.
