Make Money With Your Own Boat Launching Business

1000boat-launchPeople enjoy boating. Experiencing the sun, water, and full breeze captivates the interest of boating enthusiasts. However, most people will agree the most aggravating aspect of boating is the long lines of waiting at public launch ramps. Another problem that arises is people’s lack of skill in backing a trailer. If you own your own private launching ramp you can solve both of these problems by charging boating enthusiasts for the use of your ramp and offer your services for launching their boat.

Step One

You should first gather information about your local government laws and requirements, concerning a small business. Fill out any business license application as required by federal, state, and city laws.

Phone your insurance company and check liability rates. You will need to protect yourself in case a mishap happens.

If you struggle with backing trailers down ramps, then you should practice before beginning your business. You will be performing this task on a daily basis, so you need to make certain you can negotiate the move safely.

Investigate any competitor pricing. More than likely, you will not find many boat launching services. Most boat ramps are owned by city governments or parks. Consider what you should charge. You could offer one monthly charge for your service or be flexible and charge by the visit.

Once you have all of your business set-up finished, create business cards and maybe even a free blog, listing hours of operation and charges. You can also visit marinas and ask for manager referrals. Also, ask if you can leave your business card to hand out to customers.

Step Two

Paint some large signs to post near your ramps about your services and prices. You will want to list the flat rate for people to use your ramp. Then list charges for offering your services. You could offer a place to park your customer’s vehicle and trailer. Offer to back your customer’s trailer down the ramp. Offer to put the boat in the water to launch it.

Step Three

You may want to consider hiring a couple of people to help you with launching the boat. Having a partner will make the entire process easier. One person needs to hold the pre-attached line to help guide the boat off the trailer. Another person needs to be in the boat so that person can drive it away from the trailer after it is safely in the water.

If you do have a partner consider hand launches or car top launches. Some boats must be hand carried to the water. Canoes and kayaks are such types that need strong hands to launch them into the water.

You can build your own business by renting your private ramp to boating enthusiasts. You can earn extra money by offering to launch your customer’s boats for them. By combining your property and skill with the needs of boat owners, you can have a successful business.

This is an interesting business idea! I agree that trailering and launching a boat can be one of the most challenging aspects to boating – well, that and making the payments! This wouldn’t be a bad idea if you are good with a truck.

Hah.. Ideas are always welcome as long as they will make you money.
This is a professional business area I think and precautions, investment of time and money with sincerity all are needed here, The question is how much one gonna earn with this boat docking business?

For starting it is a good sum money, but after some time it is not worth for a young person. I might try to setup this in the summer for some extra cash.
